We are looking for a Specialist Doctor or Consultant in Ophthalmology to join a large department in a trust in Scotland.

  • An exciting opportunity for Specialist Doctor or Consultant Ophthalmologist to perform high-volume Cataract Surgery
  • full-time working week will comprise 40 hours (10 PAs)
  • purpose built Eye Centre which will deliver 20 pre assessment clinics and 60 theatre sessions per week
  • Open to considering flexible working options for this role
Essential qualifications:
  • MRCS or equivalent
  • GMC Registration
  • Evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR)
  • Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

Main Duties of the job

Specialist Doctor or Consultant Ophthalmologist working as part of a skilful multi-discipline team.

International Staffing Solutions are are seeking Consultant Ophthalmologists or Specialty Doctors who specialise in high-volume Cataract Surgery to work at the largest cataract centre in Scotland. The Ophthalmology department is flexible and can offer sessions to match the needs of both applicants and service.

Based on the outskirts of the city of Glasgow, you’ll be providing access to cataract surgery to patients from across Scotland. The innovative design has been planned around a proven patient pathway supported by a multidisciplinary team including, specialist Ophthalmology Nurses, Optometrists, and Ophthalmologists.

There is an ambitious plan to maximise all theatre capacity through the successful recruitment of highly specialised cataract surgeons.

Whilst a typical full-time working week will comprise 40 hours (10 PAs), working patterns will be flexible over primarily a Monday to Saturday rota.

Shorter contracts 1-3 years initially to ensure the right skill set/fit is available before moving to permanent roles. However, permanent appointments will also be considered for the right candidates.
