The NHS is an excellent organisation to work for and one we highly recommend. At International Staffing Solutions we have placed thousands of medical professionals in NHS roles. Today we’re going to compile all of our experience into one handy guide to help you prepare for your interview.
Researching the role
We always suggest first researching the role and the department you applied for. You can then use this research to support your answers during the interview process.
Consider the department’s values and reputation. What services do they offer and how do they promote themselves online? Not only will this help you in the interview but if you’re lucky, it will make you even more excited to work for them.
Preparing for your Interview
There are three major steps to preparing for any interview. Firstly, you should review your CV. The hiring manager will be using your CV as a reference point as they ask you questions about it. Remind yourself of everything listed on your CV so you don’t get caught off guard during the interview. Then you should practice the questions you’re likely to be asked. Our free downloadable NHS interview guide has a list of questions hiring managers like to ask.
We also highly recommend three interview techniques during your NHS interview. • CAMP
• STAR
• SPIES
These acronyms allow you to answer any question effectively and impress any hiring manager. Our NHS interview guide goes into detail on each technique and how best to utilise them.
Preparing on the day of the interview
The day has finally arrived and you’re ready for your interview. But there are still some additional steps to guide you towards success. Ensure that you know which video conferencing tool you will be using and download or update it in advance. Check your video settings and tidy any area of your room that will be visible during the call. It’s also important to test that your microphone is working. Finally, log onto the call 10 to 15 minutes in advance.
Good luck!
